Was Malaysia Airlines Debris Finally Found?

by Jenny Hollander

More than a year after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, debris found on the coast off Réunion Island, which is in the Indian Ocean to the east of Madagascar, is speculated to belong to the plane. While the wing hasn't been confirmed to be from the plane, Réunion 1ère — a local French publication — report that it appears to part of a Boeing 777, which was the MH370 flight that mysteriously disappeared in March last year. All 239 people on board the flight are believed to be deceased. The crash was officially declared an accident, but numerous conspiracy theories continue to gain traction to this day.

According to photos published by the Réunion 1ère, the debris appears to part of a wing. If it is in fact part of MH370, it would be the first piece of debris to be found from the plane.

On Wednesday, a member of the French air force, Christian Retournat, told CNN: "It is way too soon to say whether or not it is MH370. We just found the debris this morning in the coast ... The Saint Andre Police removed the debris from the water."

The debris will now be examined by investigators.
