More 'Game Of Thrones,' Anyone?

Big news for those of you in the audience who were experiencing some very intense anxiety about how Game of Thrones would manage to resurrect Jon Snow and detail just how Daenerys takes the Iron Throne with only Season 6 and Season 7 left in its run: According to the HBO 2015 Television Association Panel, Game Of Thrones may be extending its run past the original seven season plan — and there's the possibility of "two more years" after Season 6 airs in 2016.

YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS, RIGHT? Not only will there be more of this show, which in my book, is never a bad thing, but it also means that the show has more time to pull off some of the more important storylines: Like, say, resurrecting Jon Snow already.

The news came from HBO programming president Michael Lombardo himself, who stated at the TCAs, according to Entertainment Weekly :

The question is: How much beyond seven are we going to do? Obviously we’re shooting six now, hopefully discussing seven. [Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are] feel like there’s two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.

It's not clear that prompted HBO's change of heart about GoT's original plan: Back in 2014, showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff hinted that seven years was their "ideal" length for the series. Now, with reports coming from the HBO 2015 TCA panel that it could be eight seasons, it sort of makes you wonder what happened. Did George R. R. Martin spill some super important information about the upcoming A Song Of Ice and Fire book that prompted executives to realize there's no way the story could be wrapped up by Season 7? Did they want to pull a Harry Potter/Twilight/The Hunger Games/Mad Men/ Breaking Bad/ countless other franchises and split the final part of the story into two?

OR... did they just want to dedicate a whole season to giving us as much Jon Snow as possible because they know how much I've been hurting from watching him be stabbed in the heart a bunch of times by everyone he once called his friend?

IS THIS THEIR WAY OF SAYING SORRY?

Because, I mean, if so: I accept. Another season means more time to resurrect Jon Snow, and for that, I do feel a lot better. Thanks, HBO.
