Best Coast Has Cute Take on Lyric Videos

Lyric videos are fairly trendy right now — who can forget Katy Perry's memorable iMessage-style video for "Roar"? — so it's no surprise that Best Coast has jumped on the bandwagon and released one. That said, Best Coast's new lyric video for "This Lonely Morning," which was released through Funny or Die today, is actually a pretty cute take on the concept: Not only does it feature both actual band members Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno, but the lyrics aren't even digital. They're all written on individual tennis balls as Cosentino and Bruno play a riveting game of tennis then play air guitar with their tennis rackets (as we all have probably done, at some point).

The song is off the band's most recent mini album, "Fade Away," and it's pretty much the type of upbeat, hazy California surfer rock we've all come to expect from them. The lyrics, as always, are somewhat akin to The Beach Boys if they lived in the 21st century: "And I don't know why I'm feeling this way all the time," Cosentino sings in one verse, "You're always on my mind, I can't escape the world sometimes." Also, Cosentino should get props for that jacket: Note Joni Mitchell's name stitched on the back of it.
