McDonald's Is About To Change Your Brunch Routine

by Sara Levine

Is your regular weekend brunch breaking the bank? Soon, that might not be an issue because McDonald's is testing out gourmet breakfast, meaning you'll be able to get tasty breakfast that doesn't kill your budget. I've been there, and it's not fun. What can I say, I didn't choose the brunch life. The brunch life chose me.

Right now, it seems McDonald's is testing its gourmet breakfast menu at select locations outside Brisbane. Yes, Brisbane as in Australia, as in I almost considered using this as my excuse to plan a trip to Australia until I realized how ridiculous that all sounded. But at the same time I'm not necessarily totally ruling it out. And once you peep the menu, you'll understand why.

The Gourmet Breakfast has five glorious menu options: the Cafe breakfast with toasted sourdough bread, pork sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, wilted spinach, grilled tomatoes, and a hash brown; a Bacon and Egg Roll on a brioche; an Avocado Smash (whatever that is); Belgian waffles with yogurt and fruit; and corn fritters with feta, avocado, grilled tomatoes, and spinach. And if that doesn't sound good enough for you, customers can also customize their gourmet breakfast. Good, because I really don't know how anybody could ever choose just one item from that list. I would eat all the things.

Sadly, there is no word on if and when we might hope to see the Gourmet Breakfast in the United States, and I am not lovin' that (see what I did there?). So if you want to be the first person to know about and try new McDonald's menu options, you should probably move to Australia since they seem to be getting all the love down there.
