How To Steal Vanessa Hudgens' Safari Style

by Raffy Marie Parker

What's that, you say? Vanessa Hudgens is on safari with Austin Butler (singer, model, and Sebastian Kydd in The Carrie Diaries) while I'm sat slumped at my desk, crying tears into my tea? Some people just get all the luck. While she's off befriending African wildlife, however, I can always console myself by stealing Vanessa Hudgens' safari style.

Hudgens headed off on a romantic African getaway with Butler this week, in a bid to get up close and personal... with the giraffes, lions, and zebras, of course. Having recently finished performing in her Broadway show Gigi , the High School Musical star decorated her Instagram page with a range of safari snaps as the pair trekked through Tanzania before attending the wedding of 46-year-old polo player and multi-millionaire financier Lyndon Lea and 22-year-old English model Sophie Dickens.

Despite the loved-up pair's bustling animal-loving antics, and despite temperatures in Tanzania currently averaging around 85 degrees this week, Hudgens' snaps show no hint of the actress taking her finger off the street style pulse. Sporting a safari-appropriate color palette of cream, gold, and khaki, Hudgens looks relaxed and in her element in her Instagram photos as she pairs each of her outfits with simplistic straight locks, a strong brow, and cherry-red lipstick. Plus, simple gold jewelry to accessorize her tan.

All that being said, is it really surprising that Vanessa Hudgens has her safari style nailed, when she already incorporates the look so well into her day-to-day street style? From strappy, flowing, A-line maxi dresses to feathered thong necklaces and crochet galore, this sun-loving lady should be your favorite go-to style icon when it comes to dressing in wildlife vogue. So don your fringiest flip-flops and your roundest-rimmed sunglasses, and get ready for your safari style overhaul!

1. Cool Cream Lace To Stave Off The Heat

Hudgens chose a lacy cream linen top for night-time dining with her blushing beau. Make like the Gimme Shelter star, and opt for an airy cream lace skirt and crop top combination to keep you looking sensuously stylish yet cool and collected during the humid summer evenings.

This beautiful woven V-neck dress with lace panelling detail is also light and airy enough to keep you comfortably cool whether you're safari sightseeing or having a barbecue in your back garden, while the lined design also prevents the sun's rays revealing your undies at inopportune moments.

2. Khaki Cargo Dress For Comfy Cool On The Move

Whilst cruising through the pride lands in their large open-sided safari truck, Vanessa Hudgens can be seen sporting a too-cool-for-school khaki cargo dress as she playfully canoodles with Butler. Not only is khaki fabulously utilitarian and whimsically Indiana Jones-esque, but a comfy cargo dress is easily adjustable on hot, humid days as the temperature peaks and troughs.

These dresses are soft and simply designed, yet their tie waists and dipped hems make them perfect casual day-to-night pieces, whether you're chasing lions and tigers or sipping cocktails at the bar down the road.

3. The Multi-Layered Feathered Statement Necklace To Bring Any Outfit To Life

Hudgens' Instagram has shown the actress adding a feathered finishing touch to her attire several times in recent weeks, shunning subtle jewelry for colorful statement pieces that shout her signature summer style loudly and proudly from the rooftop. This silver, three-tiered feathered necklace is a simple way to add striking style to a minimalist outfit in a flash — perfect for when you want to look stylish and presentable on a minimal time budget.

4. The Lightweight Multi-Colored Maxi Dress For Red Carpet Style That Beats The Heat

Vanessa Hudgens actually wore this criss-crossed back, side-slit Urban Outfitters maxi dress on the streets of New York, but its striking print and airy construction would be so perfect for a hot sweaty safari evening, that I just couldn't bear to leave it out. Available in both blue and red, and black and white, this dress would also go perfectly with the tiered and tasseled necklace above for ultimate wild wilderness style.

5. A Large Wide Brimmed Floppy Hat For Dodging The Sun's Midday Rays

Hudgens is regularly seen both on Instagram and in the press donning a whimsical array of vintage-style wide brimmed hats. This large wool winder will help to keep the sun out of your eyes and the heat off of your head while ensuring you look minimally hot and bothered.

Whoever said you couldn't do safari in style clearly hasn't come across Ms. Hudgens.
