The Grammy Nominations Are In!

by Celeste Mora

Friday night marked the sixth Grammy Nominations Ceremony, and this year's was the biggest yet. The night was full of performances from pop princesses like Katy Perry, Lorde, and Taylor Swift, as well as multiple Grammy winners Miguel and Keith Urban. And, on top of all that, the night boasted a performance from Earth, Wind and Fire, who joined T.I. and Robin Thicke onstage for "Blurred Lines." In a bizarre move, Drake canceled his performance at the nominations, but the show went on without him. Once again, LL Cool J hosted the nomination ceremony (as he has since its creation), and, despite a brief technical glitch, this year's ceremony went off without a hitch.

Well, unless you count that Lorde snub for Best New Artist. Because even more intriguing than the performances were the nominations themselves. Though she was snubbed in one category, Lorde, a frontrunner for more than a few wins, picked up nominees in the Song of the Year and Record of the Year categories for her hit, "Royals." Taylor Swift continued to be a strong contender, with a nod for "Album of Year" with her 2013 release, "Red." But, really, is a live music show a live music show without a Twitter frenzy-inducing performance from Miley Cyrus?

Check out the nominees for this year's Grammy race below, and wait in anticipation until the ceremony hits TV screens on Feb. 9!
