Macy's To Host A New York Fashion Week Show

by Jessica Willingham

Macy's is the ultimate go-to department store for accessible style, but they're about to take a walk on the high fashion side because Macy's is hosting a New York Fashion Week Show of its very own at the Theater in Madison Square Garden this year, and we all get to watch it.

This isn't the super store's first dip into high fashion. Macy's once partnerd with Made Fashion Week for an ongoing collaboration and with Karl Lagerfeld for a much-hyped capsule collection. But this is totally new territory: hosting one of the biggest shows in fashion, in one of the fashion capitol's of the world, is going all in.

On Monday, Macy's announced that it would stage “Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row” on Sept. 17. It will be a complete production, with a 150-look runway show, celebrities, musical acts and dance numbers. The big to-do will close out the week, featuring clothes exclusive to Macy's by Heidi Klum and Ryan Seacrest.

According to Macy's, the event will celebrate the "intersection of music and fashion." Sounds a wee like a souped up version of the Victoria's Secret annual show. Like VS, this event will be broadcasted on E! on Sept. 23, and include behind-the-scenes footage from the entire NYFW.

The show also has a good cause. Tickets go on sale to the public beginning on Aug. 21, with all proceeds benefitting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the CFDA.
