Behind-The-Scenes At Beyonce's 'Vogue' Cover Shoot

Beyonce has always made art on her own terms, setting the standard for things like surprise releases. She doesn't pander to anyone else's vision, which is one of the many reasons she is so revered. On the set of Beyonce's September 2015 Vogue cover shoot, she creatively directed a grainy, scratchy video documenting the occasion in a mysterious, semi-found footage style.

It was the artsiest look at a fashion mag cover shoot, since these types of behind-the-scenes videos are often pretty rote, featuring the subject gushing about her appointment to the cover and talking about the clothes or the shoot itself.

In this clip, Bey doesn't utter a single syllable — and she doesn't need to. The images do all the work for you. Despite the loud music, the quick and shaky shots, and the rolling frames, which make it feel like you discovered this footage on accident, you can’t tear your eyes away from it.

A lot happens in a minute and 47 seconds.

Basically, the Queen Bey is barefoot. She's also seen rubbing her feet after a long day in heels, capturing her in a rare "Everywoman" moment. She drops a key — I think! — in her cleavage. I’m not sure what that’s about but… She also plays with a model airplane throughout. Maybe the key is to the box where she keeps her plane collection?

Here's what happens, in terms of fashion and beauty, in screen cap form!

The camera follows Bey several times, like a loyal puppy nipping at its master's heels.

Check out Bey's Bordeaux-colored daggers.

Wet hair, don't care. Seriously, her profile, though. It's pretty perfect.

The over-the-shoulder glimpse is quite possibly the most beautiful frame in the video. She was being so coquettish.

Bey looks a tad bit pensive and bored... but always beautiful.

The wet-haired look makes her feel so real, so approachable.

Bey was being all sorts of playful when dropped something in her cleavage.

Bey was in the zone during this shoot. It is the September issue of Vogue, which is serious business for her brand.

Even Bey needs a foot rub after a long day in heels.

Immerse yourself in the video for yourself. It's an interpretive story of Bey's Vogue cover, and simply delightful.
