Miley & Taylor Actually Used To Be Buds

by Nicole Pomarico

If you're still stressing out about Katy Perry and Taylor Swift feud, you're already behind. There's a new smackdown happening, and it's between Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. Earlier this week, Cyrus criticized Swift's "Bad Blood" music video for being too violent. According to Cyrus, the theme of revenge, the fighting, and the guns set a bad example, and she can't believe that Swift is lauded as a good role model after putting out a video like that. I can kind of see Cyrus' point, being that yeah, there is a lot of violence, but I'm wary of trusting anyone who doesn't think "Bad Blood" is a complete masterpiece. Why can't we all just get along?! But there's no way around it. They're feuding, and one very important question needs to be asked: Were Cyrus and Swift ever friends, or were they always enemies?

As a longtime Swift fan (and of Hannah Montana era Cyrus) this is an easy question to answer. Because Swift and Cyrus used to be pretty close buds, despite their age difference. Don't get me wrong — it's not like they were as close as Swift is to Selena Gomez, but they were definitely friends... and there's plenty of proof.

Swift Was In The Hannah Montana Movie

Yup, that's baby Taylor Swift performing her song, "Crazier," in the movie. And yes, it was obviously the best part — even though, as a whole, the film will live on as one of the greatest achievements in cinematic history. Seriously. It's the best! Also, can we please have a moment of silence for Cyrus' long hair (and, while we're at it, the blonde Hannah Montana wig? Thank you.

And it was amazing. I was hoping more duets would come from them after this performance, but none ever materialized.

Swift Has Said Incredibly Nice Things About Cyrus

While on a Canadian talk show last year, Swift had nothing but sweet things to say about Cyrus and her tendency to be a little controversial, which is why it's so disappointing that Cyrus isn't sticking up for her now. Here's what Swift said:

Honestly, I think that I cheer on anybody who is living their life on their own terms and wearing what they want to wear and representing what they want to represent. I think that no other female artist should be able to tell me to wear less clothes and I'm not gonna tell any other female artist to wear more clothes. You know what I'm saying? As long as it's their idea, and they're expressing their sexuality or they're expressing their strength or it makes them feel like a woman to perform a certain way or dress a certain way. I just think that as long as it's coming from them and they're living their life on their own terms, I cheer them on.

These are obviously two successful and powerful women who have a lot in common, and there's plenty of room in Swift's epic squad for one more. Maybe they'll make up and become BFFs again someday?
