Donald Trump's New Campaign Video Is Hypocritical

by Kendyl Kearly

I'm sure Donald Trump works very hard. It must take a lot of labor to judge women's bodies in beauty pageants and get his hair standing like that every day. However, Trump seems to think that he works much harder than the President of the United States and his competitor Hillary Clinton. In a new campaign video, Donald Trump portrayed Obama and Clinton as lazy.

Dropped on Instagram on Thursday, the video juxtaposes images of ISIS and foreign violence with a photo of the president playing golf and a clip of the Clintons dancing. The tagline is, "Politicians are having fun on our dime while the world is burning," followed by Trump's name and slogan, "Make America great again!"

Besides the general weirdness of blaming politicians for foreign terrorism because they took breaks, the theory doesn't even make sense. By last December, Obama had taken 160 vacation days, according to CBS News. By that time in his presidency, George W. Bush had enjoyed 405 off days, and Reagan took 390 total.

None of that matters to Trump because — let's face it — direct facts never do. But his video is actually pretty hypocritical. Trump, who, yes, has zero days of experience in public office, has had a lot of fun while foreign violence blazes, and he hasn't even tried to do anything to help.

In fact, here are eight of his most fun, relaxing moments while actual leaders worked on foreign policy:

When He Played Golf

It's hypocritical to criticize a president's vacation when Trump's livelihood depends on the luxury vacation industry.

When He Became a Dancing With The Stars Advocate

But it's not OK to dance with Bill Clinton.

He was likely on a diplomatic mission to get Gisele to compete in the Miss Universe pageant.

When He Starred In A Music Video

This certainly wasn't a waste of time. You never know when that skill could come in handy as commander-in-chief.

When He Watched The Yankees

"That wasn't a game. That was — eh — a political strategy meeting."

When He Threw A Pool Party

To be fair, no one looks like they're having much fun.

When He Bought A Huge Vacation Home

This is coming from a man who wrote in his book, "Don't take vacations. What's the point? If you're not enjoying your work, you're in the wrong job."

When He Advised Taking A Break

But the president isn't allowed to relax in eight years? And Clinton can't take five minutes to dance with her husband? If Trump gets elected, I'm sure he'll refuse to attend the Inaugural Ball and all vacations. He might even skip breakfast, lunch, and dinner, surviving only on caviar and entrepreneurial spirit.
