Get Dakota Johnson's Hot Wraparound Eyeliner Look

by Lindsey Rose Black

I have exciting news: the smoldering, smoky wraparound eyeliner style is back, my friends. Spotted last night by Vogue, Dakota Johnson's wraparound charcoal eyeliner look is definitely worth emulating. Just use a light touch to avoid the unintentional raccoon eye you probably accidentally rocked more than once in middle school.

A rising fashionista, Johnson is known for her chic and simple style. She recently unveiled the perfect Parisian bob, and her red hot dress at the Oscar's screamed confident elegance. Though she usually plays up her lips when it's time to get glam, she opted for dramatic eyes last night at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills. The decision was a good one, because Johnson was a stunner and then some.

If you're wanting to try out the look for yourself, there's a few eyeliner application pointers to keep in mind. Because the wraparound smoky eye can easily turn into a disaster, start with a thinner line and build out. Remember, it's much easier to add eyeliner than remove it without wrecking your whole face. Also, you can easily add a little extra drama while still keeping the look soft by smudging over the liner with eyeshadow in a similar shade. And don't forget mascara to make everything pop!

Clearly Johnson pulled out all the stops last night.

The easiest way to achieve the look is a smooth charcoal eye pencil. Below are three of my top picks!

1. Magic Kajal Eye Pencil

A little goes a long way with this chubby pencil.

2. Matte Charcoal Pencil

For easily applied charcoal liner at a rock bottom price, you can't beat this one from Revlon. It comes in four fierce shades!

3. Long-Wearing Eyeliner

For smudgy liner to get you from 5 p.m. cocktail hour to 4 a.m. pancakes, reach for Bare Mineral's liner. It smudges easily, but doesn't budge once you set it. Since I have sensitive skin, it's my very top pick for long days.
