Ed Sheeran Took Beyoncé & Jay Z WHERE?!

by Tracy Dye

ICYMI, four of the best things in life came together for a magical night of debauchery. According to a Friday, August 14 report from People, singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, had pizza and Jäegerbombs with Beyoncé and Jay Z. You may be thinking, "Tracy, that's actually five things, not four." Well, I don't like the taste of black licorice, which is why I left the Jäegerbombs part out of my "best things" list. Anyway, People gleaned an exclusive clip from Sheeran's upcoming NBC special, Ed Sheeran - Live At Wembley Stadium, which premiers Sunday, August 16. In the behind-the-scenes footage, Sheeran is seen recounting how a recent trip to New York City is going to give us all a serious case of FOMO.

"Had breakfast. Went to Brooklyn for the show. Then went for pizza with Jay Z and Beyoncé. Then took them to a dive bar and did Jäegerbombs." He laughs that classic Sheeran laugh and ends with, "That's weird." Weirdly awesome, that is! As a longtime follower of the "Photograph" singer — and fellow ginger — I don't find anything surprising about the candidness of his sentiments. While some may have retracted "dive bar and Jäegerbombs" in favor of something like, "brunch at a lovely bistro," Sheeran continually gives us the unfiltered truth. And we love him for it.

This is far from the first time Sheeran has proved himself to be one of the realest musicians topping the charts. Let's take a look at some of his most wonderfully honest moments.

1. The Time He Admitted To Crying After The Notebook

I think I just heard a collective swoon across the nation.

2. The Time He Recalled A "Shart" Incident

When asked if he had ever passed gas onstage, barely a beat went by before Sheeran said, "All the time." From there, he voluntarily expounded on the incident by recalling a time he had a full-blown accident onstage. "I actually once misjudged a fart onstage, which ended up being a shart. It was like midway through a performance and I was really lively and halfway through, I was like, 'I'm just gonna stand still for the rest of this performance and hope it's over soon,' and then go home and throw these trousers out." What a gas! Never change, Sheeran.

3. Songs Like "The Man" Treat Fans To A Musical Diary Entry

Sheeran has frequently utilized his songwriting acumen to unveil personal trials in his love life. "The Man" is one of the most visceral tracks from his X album, and also treats us to his on fleek rap skills.

4. When He Shut Down Those Taylor Swift Dating Rumors

Sheeran's crisply candid response to rumors of a romance with his BFF, Taylor Swift, proved from the get that this guy doesn't balk at media scrutiny. "Whenever she is pictured with someone, people say she's dating them," he said. "I think you can be friends with someone without having to sleep with them. I've got morals." Well played as always.

5. Whenever He Talks About His Diet Regimen

A man after my own heart.

6. When He Told Ellen Degeneres About "Don't"

"I feel like everyone goes through things that annoy them, and they get angry, and I feel that the way I get my anger out is to write songs," Sheeran told Ellen Degeneres during a discussion about his hit, "Don't." Sheeran also went on to note that he originally didn't want to include the song on his record, but after some cajoling — and Sheeran noting that "it is a good song" — he decided to keep the track.

7. All His Hilariously Frank Tweets

Glorious. If you don't make a habit of scrolling through Sheeran's Twitter feed, I suggest you start ASAP.

There you have it. While he's not bestowing us with the best ear candy imaginable, Sheeran is the realest of them all.
