J.Crew's Color Trends For Fall Will Surprise You

by Emily McClure

With autumn just around the corner, it's time to talk about the colors you should wear for fall. Plot twist: They aren't what you're expecting. J.Crew's head stylist, Gayle Spannaus, sat down with The New York Observer to discuss all thing autumnal fashion, as well as what color trends J.Crew is predicting for fall. According to the article, J.Crew actually maintains a color library that contains 3,633 individual color swatches. So, if anyone knows about color selection, it's the team at J.Crew.

Wondering what color you absolutely need to invest in. The answer is camel. According to Spannaus, camel is one of the most beautiful colors on the market. Her other favorite? Canary yellow. Yes, you read that correctly. Spanners' states in the interview that canary yellow is "super versatile and complements every skin tone."

However, this isn't the only bright color that will be taking over fashion this fall. Cobalt will also have a moment in the spotlight.

"It works off of everything and it is in everyone’s wardrobe. It is definitely the most versatile of the brights," Spannaus said.

Even though these are some shocking colors for fall, there are ways to style them into your wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorites ways to add these colors into your fall style.

Style One

Whether you're meeting a friend for a day of shopping or getting ready for a date, this outfit (with a punch of cobalt to complete the look) is ideal.

Style Two

There's nothing better than adding a hat to a fall look, and this outfit capitalizes on the new season's color trends while remaining totally classic.

Style Three

Camel, cobalt, and a pop of yellow — you get the best of all worlds with this look.
