Amy Adams On Female Competition Is Great

by Alanna Bennett

Amy Adams is a pretty fiercely respected actress — she's been nominated for Oscars pretty regularly since her breakout in Junebug, she sometimes seems like the embodiment of a Disney princess, and she's not afraid to speak out when the institution of Hollywood entertainment is full of misogynistic crap. In other words, Amy Adams called out the potential Wonder Woman love triangle in Superman Vs. Batman as bullshit. And it was beautiful.

Am I interested [in a love triangle between Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lois Lane]? I don’t know. I mean, we’ll see. I hope that I can be involved with a woman on screen where we’re not in a love triangle. That would be fun. Maybe where we team up together and we work as teammates instead of adversaries.

You go, Amy Adams. Four for you, Amy Adams. Her comments are at least partially in reference to the role she is currently promoting — her sultry character in American Hustle, a movie and role that are very highly anticipated and critically lauded, but in which she is, yes, in a love triangle with Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale.

As a respected and constantly working actress, Adams is asked multiple times a year — usually around the time those Oscar roundtable start rolling themselves out — whether the atmosphere for women in film has changed. She is often very magnanimous and diplomatic (even the above response is very polite), but it's hard to imagine it's not questions and concerns like those above that are running through her head every time the topic comes up.

Now let's just all hope that this love triangle is definitely not where this movie is headed, because if that's what the screenwriters had planned... well, things could get awkward.

And now, for some classic Lois Lane bitchface, aimed specifically at female stereotypes in film:
