Sofia Explains Her Money-Making Secret

If you're anything like me, you were already smitten with Sofia Vergara from seeing her hilarious performance as Gloria on Modern Family — not to mention that amazing prank she pulled on an episode of Ellen — but more reason to never hurts: In a new interview with Glam Belleza Latina, Sofia Vergara revealed that she has "capitalized" off acting like a "sexy bimbo," because too many people can't accept the fact that a woman can be both smart and sexy.

"I think that the concept of being sexy and smart is difficult for many to grasp," she explained to the magazine. "Most people are more comfortable with the notion of 'sexy bimbo.' And I have to admit that I've capitalized on that to negotiate a couple of times, when the 'smart ones' think I have no idea what I can deliver, and I end up costing them more."

It's sad to think that there are people in the world who would assume the more attractive a woman is, the less intelligent she must be, but there are — especially in Hollywood. That, unfortunately, is the patriarchy: It's instilled the idea in people's heads that a woman is only worth her appearance. It's also perfect, really, that Sofia Vergara is able to use the concept against them for her own benefit, and blindside all those idiots who don't think she's capable of more. She is now, after all, the top-earning actress on TV, and she has a rather successful line of products at K-Mart — clearly, it works.

"I'm not ashamed to say I love making money," she continued. "I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future. I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect. It is fun to shock people with my business ideas. Most people just see me as [my Modern Family character] Gloria."

Perfect. Destroy that patriarchy, one business deal at a time.

You go, girl.
