Malala Aced Her School Exams, Because Duh

by Elizabeth King

Nobel Peace Prize winner and women's and education rights activist Malala Yousafzai recently received the scores for her General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) exams, and to absolutely nobody's surprise, completely aced every single subject. Yousafzai received the highest scores, as and A*s for all 10 exams — a huge victory for Yousafzai personally, but also for the education rights cause that she has championed for several years. As another crowning achievement for an exceptional person, the whole world seems to be celebrating the amazing scores with Yousafzai. People on Twitter are congratulating Malala Yousafzai on her GCSE scores, many noting the immensity of this triumph from a woman who was nearly killed for trying to attend school as a young girl.

Yousafzai gained international attention after she was nearly fatally shot in the head by members of the Taliban on her way home from school in 2012. She was only 15 years old at the time, but Yousafzai was determined to fight for her right to an education. Now having received ace scores on her GCSE exams, Yousafzai is once again proving to the world that the minds of young women are powerful. After her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, tweeted his daughter's amazing test scores, Twitter joined in the celebration and pride for Malala's bravery, intellect, and yet another amazing accomplishment.
