7 Best Tom Hiddleston Movie One-Liners

by Rachel Semigran

Tom Hiddleston is slated to have four films released before the end of 2015 — one gothic horror (Crimson Peak), one half animated/ half live action short (Will-Shake), one action-packed thriller (High-Rise), and one biopic (I Saw The Light). If that doesn't tell you just how in-demand Tom Hiddleston is in Hollywood, I don't know what will. His ever-evolving resume also shows just how expansive Hiddleston's talents are. Though he became a household name after taking on the role of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is as much a comedian and an Oscar-worthy classical actor as he is a comic book villain. Some of Hiddleston's best one-liners can still make you laugh or think, even now.

Because it's not just his ability to transform his face from charming to terrifying in the blink of an eye that does the trick: it's all in the delivery. There's a precision and economy to the way Tom Hiddleston gives his lines. There's never a breath wasted or a moment that's too hammed up (unless it calls for it). Every word drips ever so cleanly from the page to the screen when it's coming from Tom Hiddleston. When a script calls for a wicked one-liner or a cheeky wink in the dialogue, Tom Hiddleston always delivers it perfectly.

To prove it, here are some of his most delectable deliveries.

1. Midnight In Paris

Isn't that the truth, old sport?

2. Thor: The Dark World

"Brother, whatever you're doing, I suggest you do it faster." Loki, that sass monster.

3. Muppets Most Wanted

That grunt totally counts.

4. The Avengers

C'mon, Iron Man, show the guy some hospitality.

5. Only Lovers Left Alive

"Please, feel free to piss in my garden." Context? Who needs context?

6. Thor

I have chills.

7. Crimson Peak

"A house as old as this one becomes in time, a living thing." This movie isn't even out yet and I am already terrified.

Anyone out there who wants to be even half as good an actor as Tom Hiddleston needs to learn to master his expressions and delivery just as expertly as he has. If that means you have to watch all of these films yourself to get the context and inflection right, well, you're welcome. As if you need an excuse to marathon a good Hiddleston movie.
