Now You Can Order Dog-Friendly "Beer"

As any true dog lover will tell you, canine friends beat human friends pretty much 99 percent of the time — and now, thanks to a new "dog brew" by Flat 12 Bierwerks brewery in Indianapolis, Ind., your pooch can also double as your favorite drinking buddy. Who needs to spend the night bar hopping like a party animal when you can stay at just one bar and party with animals, am I right?

The dog-friendly, non-alcoholic beverage made its debut on Aug. 21 at the brewery's pet adoption drive in Indianapolis, the Indy Star reported, and there are plans in the works to make the "dog beer" available on tap at Flat 12 Bierwerks brewery. Customers who want to share a pint with their pup can hit up Flat 12 and get a bowl of the good stuff for their dog at just $1 a pop, with proceeds going to local animal shelters.

As for the brew itself? It's a combination of meat bones, brewer's yeast, carrots, and potatoes that are all simmered together for three hours until it becomes a sort of stock that's then put in a keg (naturally). Honestly, it kind of sounds like something I would probably eat myself if you threw it in the microwave for a few minutes first, but then again my mom always said there are dogs in this world who have better manners than I do.

Flat 12 Bierwerks' employees told the Indy Star that almost everyone who works at the bar has a dog, so this seemed like a natural next step — and so far, pup patrons seem pretty into it. I mean, look at this little guy just waiting to lap one up:

Of course, this isn't the first time pet owners have had a special opportunity to share a "drink" or two with their furball friends. Those people who prefer a quiet night in with their cats can pick up Nyan Nouveau cat wine, a feline-friendly non-alcoholic beverage made with Cabernet grapes, Vitamin C, and catnip that hit the market in Japan to rave reviews. Basically, if you never want to socialize with another real life person ever again, you don't have to — and that's something I think all true animal lovers can cheers to.
