'Zachariah' Star Reveals The Film's Challenges

by Anna Klassen

It was one of the only films to debut at Sundance Film Festival 2015 that already had a distribution deal, which is no small feat. Z For Zachariah , starring Star Trek 's Chris Pine, Suicide Squad's Margot Robbie, and 12 Years a Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor is a post-apocalyptic film unlike the dozens of others that have come out over the past few years. The film centers around one woman, Ann (Robbie), who believes she's the only living human alive at the end of the world. All this changes when she stumbles upon Loomis (Ejiofor), a man who might be the solution to her broken tractor, her loneliness, and inevitably... repopulating civilization. But all of this changes when another man (Pine), who shares the same values and background as Ann, shows up and proves competition for Loomis.

Speaking with Ejiofor about the film, the actor talks about the challenges and benefits of working on a film with only two other actors, as well as the remote, New Zealand location the film was shot in.

Watch my interview with the Z For Zachariah actor below, and see the film when it hits theaters Friday, August 28.
