Carrie Underwood Does "Glamsual" Right

The reigning queen of country music — no, that's not Taylor Swift — is taking on the world of high fashion. Singer Carrie Underwood will show her athleisure line at NYFW. Underwood partnered with Dick's Sporting Goods for her fitness and lifestyle apparel range, Calia by Carrie, and while I usually don't think of Dick's as high fashion, Underwood is expertly glamsual, with both impeccable red carpet and street style.

Therefore, the "Smoke Break" singer adds a fashionable boost to athleisure. It's workout wear that is suitable for errand-running, and that's all the rage in street style in 2015.

According Women’s Wear Daily, Underwood, who is a new mom to her firstborn son Isaiah, will host an activation event at The HQ, the 14th Street venue that will serve as the base for some NYFW events. The fall collection will be shown on September 10 at a pop-up show.

Invitees will be able to purchase from the line immediately after seeing it, as opposed to having to wait six months for availability. Because instant gratification rules!

The singer will also be announcing news about the line at that time. She wouldn’t share the deets with WWD, choosing to keep the info hush hush. WWD thinks Underwood will be expanding the offerings of her feminine-looking fitness line and that makes sense, as it appears to be enjoying success.

Obviously, Underwood is stoked about her NYFW debut.

Underwood doesn’t merely slap her name on Calia pieces. She looks to her own closet and her friends for inspo, according to WWD. She encourages fans to layer and is proud of the Bodywarm fabric technology, which protects the body from cold while keeping heat in. With winter on the horizon, I’m eager to try a Calia piece for that reason.

The singer's goal was to “bridge the gap between functional workout clothes and something you can wear everyday.” That’s athleisure in a nutshell.

The Calia stuff is really cute.

You can elevate your workout game with Calia. They pieces are so adorbs that they make you want to hit the gym while wearing 'em.

Here are nine times that Carrie Underwood's glamsual style blew me away. And by "glamsual," I mean times she took a basic element or outfit and dressed it up or down to suit the occasion and her mood!

1. Fan Girl

Underwood was supporting her hockey player hubby in a lot of Nashville Predators gear.

2. A Different Kind Of Braid

Underwood was too busy too do her hair, so she opted for a braided headband. It was the epitome of no frills and purty!

3. All-American Almay Girl

The singer was all-American in her flag tee and cut-offs for an Almay ad.

4. Graphical

Her graphic tee and shorts were perfectly beachy without being schlubby.

5. Skinnies + Booties

Her layered look, featuring an infinity scarf, dark wash skinnies, and booties, was so simple yet chic.

6. Stage Glam

Underwood was fashionable, functional, and sexy in coated black skinnies tucked into knee-high boots.

7. She Wears Short Shorts

Underwood often wears elaborate stage costumes and couture dresses. But she also got down like a true country girl in sparkly short shorts, paired with a fringed and beaded vest.

8. Nice Stems

Underwood has the kind of legs that usually get insured by Lloyd's of London. This long-sleeved white mini was also an exercise in upscaled glamsual. It was dressy but not fussy, thanks to the length.

9. Shredded

Underwood rocked a deconstructed, shredded tee and shorts while performing. She customized a pretty basic summer uniform, since she is always sexy and stylish.

Carrie Underwood really knows how to do glamsual, whether she is performing or attending an event. She takes her outfits up and down several notches with the styling, no matter what she is dressing for. But the result is always glamsual! Frumpy just isn't in her fashion vocab.
