How Did Miley Cyrus & Stella Maxwell Meet?

by Jaclyn Anglis

Miley Cyrus has a big night ahead of her. Two years after causing a twerk-tastic stir at the MTV Video Music Awards, she will be hosting that very same award show on Sunday, Aug. 30. Knowing Cyrus, it is bound to be a crazy night. Some fans might be wondering if she might bring a date to the big night to balance out the craziness (or perhaps add to it!). After all, it has been rumored that Cyrus is dating Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell. While neither Cyrus nor Maxwell has confirmed these rumors, they have not exactly denied them either. At the least, they are very close friends. Ahead of the big night, let's take a look into how Miley Cyrus and Stella Maxwell met.

Maxwell joked in an interview with V Magazine that she and Cyrus met through Grindr. Though the dating app for gay men would make for a hilarious meet-cute for them, Maxwell thankfully had another tech-savvy story about how they actually met. Being millennials, they met through mutual friends on Instagram. The social media app is where Cheyne Thomas, who is Cyrus' close friend and assistant, first contacted Maxwell about shooting some photos. And Maxwell confirmed that when she and Cyrus met, it was friendship at first sight. "It's been a trip to hang out and see a little of their world," she said of hanging out with Cyrus and Thomas. "Felt very organic and right." And since first getting to know each other in March, the two have been virtually attached at the hip.

Cyrus, who split from Patrick Schwarzenegger in April, has been discussing her fluid sexuality and gender identity quite a bit in the press lately. And this discussion comes during a time when Cyrus and Maxwell have been spotted getting quite cozy together, even being photographed kissing. They don't seem to be fighting the rumors on social media either, posting hilariously photoshopped images of themselves on their Instagram pages and even joking about having babies together.

Regardless of whether or not they are actually in it for the long haul together, it seems like the two ladies are having a lot of fun and enjoying each other's company. And it is good to see that their connection has come full circle, with them putting the social media outlet they met on to good use by simultaneously cracking up their followers and making them scratch their heads. Honestly, the only thing that would make it better is if they made a parody Grindr account together to go along with it.
