Cindy's Getting The '90s Model Gang Back Together

by Jessica Thomas

In case you haven't noticed, the '90s are back. This couldn't be more true than when Cindy Crawford and her '90s supermodel friends reunited for The Reunion, a short film featuring famous supermodels of the 1990s, shot by photographer and filmmaker Peter Lindbergh. Crawford and Lindbergh both posted pictures on their Instagram accounts with sneak peeks of the project. With these two involved, it's sure to be good.

The 1990s were the age of the supermodel. Some say it's being recreated today, but Karlie, Cara, and Kendall don't hold a candle (yet) to Crawford. Lindbergh is famous in his own right for being one of the most iconic fashion photographers in the world. He's photographed Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Kate Moss, and was the subject of a Telegraph profile last year.

"He really sees the beauty in a mature woman,"Crawford said in a four-minute film on Nowness about the project. "Through experience, through having children, through heartbreaks, through love, through all of that."

Nowness posted the behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, but it'll be exciting to see what Crawford and Lindbergh will be doing with the photographs. Along with Crawford, Lindbergh shot Karen Alexander, Nadja Auermann, Helena Christensen, Eva Herzigova, and Tatjana Patitz. While some of those models may sound slightly familiar, they're not exactly as widely known as Crawford. At least, not to those of us who were born post-1995.

So who exactly are these other supermodels? Here's what you need to know about them.

Karen Alexander

The American-born supermodel was huge in the 1980s and '90s, and landed a Vogue cover in 1989. She was in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition in the late '80s.

Nadja Auermann

The German supermodel once held the Guinness Book of Records title for the model with the longest legs, so it's no wonder she's included in The Reunion.

Helena Christensen

Christensen was born in Denmark, and once competed as Miss Denmark in the Miss Universe pageant. She still models, but is an accomplished photographer and has several clothing lines.

Eva Herzigova

The Czech supermodel was discovered in Prague in the late '80s and launched a career that featured campaigns with Guess and Wonderbra, which catapulted her to fame.

Tatjana Patitz

Patitz was born in Germany and raised in Sweden, but began her career as a model in Paris. She was often photographed by Lindbergh, and appeared on the covers of Marie Claire , ELLE, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

These supermodels clearly haven't aged a day since their heyday in the '90s. Although they have good genes to help them, I hope I can be as comfortable as Crawford and the other models seem when I'm in my 40s.
