The MTV VMAs is not the easiest award show to critique from a fashion standpoint. It's just meant to be a little weird — and it works. Rounding up the worst dressed list for the 2015 MTV VMAs is not a task for someone who can't appreciate the utter and wonderful bizarreness that is the show. Whether it's Miley grinding on Robin Thicke in a skin-toned spandex suit in 2013, or Taylor Swift looking amazing, well, pretty much every year, there is always something to talk about when it comes to VMA fashion. And given that Miley Cyrus hosted the 2015 award show, things got very, very strange, very quickly.
While it's hard to say if the 2015 red carpet looks compared to the 2014 VMA outfits, there was certainly no shortage of oddities and "Wait, what is that?" moments of awe. The common thread between all of these "worst dressed" moments on this list is that it is the VMAs, people. If there's ever a time when truly anything goes, it is this event. So while there may have been better options out there for some of the stars who made the worst dressed list, you can never fault them for being creative — in fact, in most cases, the creativity and bravery to wear whatever they want is actually pretty admirable.
So, here's to you, "worst dressed" celebrities of the 2015 VMAs. May your spandex stay tight and your rhinestones plentiful here and forever more.

2. Kelly Osbourne
I love Kelly Osbourne, so this was a tough one for me. But it's the VMAs, right? I think opting for something a little more bold would have been a better choice here, even though I like the look for a more casual event.

The poop emoji comes to mind. Also, it is August. It is California. This is just not the way to go, Nick.
4. Taylor Swift
I could have maybe done rainbow or sequins or houndstooth, but all three? Together? As big of a Taylor fan as I am, I can't deal with the combination. I am, however, a big fan of the makeup.
5. Jeannie Mai
There's just a lot to take in here, guys. A lot.
6. Frankie Grande
I mean, again, there's just a lot to take in here. Points for makeup creativity, though. Major points.
7. Jeremy Scott
...but then again, it is Jeremy Scott, so what was I even expecting?
8. Gigi Gorgeous
Cruella de Vil, anyone?
9. Tori Kelly
Girl can really sing, but for some reason, this look didn't really do it for me.

But why the tiny cape, JoJo?
11. Rita Ora
The proportions here are just a little odd. Giant skirt, giant slit, giant plunge? And feathers? It's just too much. But she's beautiful.
