Did Wes Craven Have Any Projects In The Works?

by Anna Klassen

Sunday marked a tragic day for horror fans and cinephiles alike. Acclaimed Scream filmmaker Wes Craven passed away after battling brain cancer. He's most well-known for works like The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, and of course, 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street. The talent leaves behind two children from his first marriage, and his wife, Iya Labunka. And in the wake of his tragic death, I can't help but wonder, did the legendary filmmaker have any films in the works when he died?

The last listed credit on his IMDB page is for a short, Freddy Krueger: Nightmare on Vape Street, which was completed earlier this year. As far as I can tell, the director, writer, producer, and actor didn't have any loose creative ends at the time of his death. Other recent credits include four other shorts released over the last few years: 2014's Krueger: The Slasher from Elm Street, A Walk Through Elm Street, 2013's Krueger: Another Tale from Elm Street and 2011 Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.

The filmmaker begun his career as a teacher, moving into filmmaking and horror in particular. And now, it seems his teaching ways have come circle. While films from the filmmaker will no longer grace the big screen, it's apparent that Craven's works have and will continue to influence his fellow horror enthusiasts.

R.I.P. Wes Craven, you will be dearly missed.
