7 Former Relationships The World Won't Let End

by Jaclyn Anglis

The rumor mill is abuzz again with gossip about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. This time, the former couple is being talked about in the context of the Venice Film Festival. Apparently, both actors were supposed to make an appearance, but Pattinson pulled out at the last minute, and now the actor is rumored to have skipped the festival in order to avoid his ex.

Never mind that Pattinson had a perfectly reasonable excuse for missing the event. The Twilight alum himself said that he could not attend the festival because he was too busy filming his new movie The Lost City of Z in Ireland. Of course, the only plausible explanation could be that he was too walled up eating Ben & Jerry's over a relationship that ended more than two years ago to bear look Stewart in the eye (/sarcasm).

Everyone: relationships end. People move on and they see other people. Sometimes, for one reason or another, they have nothing to do with their former love ever again. And sometimes they are able to remain friends, against all odds. Celebrities are no different from the rest of us in this respect. But even though relationships die, there are some celebrity relationship that the world will simply not let rest in peace. Pattinson and Stewart are not the only ones who have fallen victim to being unknowingly resuscitated by fans and in the media. Read on to see six other couples who have gotten the unwanted resurrection treatment.

Bieber and Gomez officially called it quits last year, but by the way the press talks about them, you would think their relationship ended yesterday. Gomez actually addressed this issue in a recent interview with the Sunday Times. The "Come And Get It" performer said, "It's difficult for people to separate us. The Internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it."

2. Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston

Oh boy. This split happened 10 years ago and there has still been no shortage of "Sad Jen" or "All Alone Jen" in the magazines. When Pitt married Angelina Jolie in 2014, there was a plethora of speculation about how Aniston was taking the news. Maybe now that Aniston is also married, to longtime love Justin Theroux, the tabloids will finally let this one go. Maybe.

3. Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling

Chalk it up to starring in The Notebook together, one of the most romantic movies of recent times, but despite the fact that the former loves and costars have both moved on and dated other people, their past relationship still inspires a myriad of speculation about the "what ifs" of their split and talk of a potential reunion.

4. Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin

The pair consciously uncoupled back in 2014, but it is difficult to come across an article about either of them that doesn't mention their past relationship as if it is still an ongoing thing. It doesn't help that the pair have been able to remain friends in the wake of their separation, leading to further speculation about a reunion.

5. Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez

They split back in 2004, but the outrageously catchy couple name "Bennifer" lived on in the press. Both stars admitted the media was hard on them while they were dating, so it is unimaginable how it must have been for them after they broke up.

6. Taylor Swift & Harry Styles

OK, so this one might have something to do with Swift reportedly writing songs about Styles, in true Swift fashion, but while the "Blank Space" singer might have reflected on the relationship, it cannot be denied that she looks insanely happy with Calvin Harris now. Besides, Styles said himself he doesn't mind being a muse for songs. Let's move on from "Haylor"!

Perhaps we need a graveyard for the celebrity relationships that have passed. Then we could properly mourn them, while still realizing that they have gone on to a better place.
