Patrick Schwarzenegger Lands An Amazing New Role

by Loretta Donelan

Son of Arnold and former beau of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift Patrick Schwarzenegger has joined Scream Queens, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy's buzzy new horror show. Schwarzenegger joins an already star-studded cast featuring Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Keke Palmer, and Emma Roberts. The show premieres on Fox on Sep. 22, and the first season features a series of sorority murders. In each episode, Murphy promises that one character will be killed off. Could Schwarzenegger be one of them?

Ryan Murphy announced the news on Twitter on Friday morning, though he didn't specify what role the 21-year-old Schwarzenegger will play. While the celebrity child has pursued fashion industry careers, including founding a charity clothing line when he was 15 and signing with LA Models, he now seems more interested in acting. He has taken on a few small acting roles over the years, though Scream Queens will be his major television debut.

As early as 2006, Schwarzenegger played an unnamed child in The Benchwarmers. His next role didn't come until 2012, when he appeared in a small role in the indie movie Stuck in Love. His best known appearance might be in the music video for Ariana Grande's "Right There," in which he plays Romeo to Grande's Juliet.

In this video, and his other roles, Schwarzenegger plays characters that come across as seemingly as a preppy, frat-type guys. In Adam Sandler's Grown Ups 2, he, in fact, actually played a frat boy.

He's set to appear in the upcoming comedy Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, in which he will also play a cool kid. My guess is that he'll stay true to type in Scream Queens, probably playing a mean frat boy who is 70 percent likely to die. But, even if he is getting unfairly typecast, it looks like his career is taking off. In 2016, he'll have his first starring role in a thriller called North. Looks like we'll be seeing more of Patrick Schwarzenegger, and not just in the tabloids.
