A Show About Twitter? Yup.

First things first: It was really only a matter of time until this happened. First, Aaron Sorkin made a movie about the creation of Facebook in 2009 called The Social Network (based off of Ben Mezrich's book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal , it should be noted) and now, this. According to Deadline, Lionsgate is planning a television series about the creation of Twitter, and has acquired the rights to Nick Bilton's recently released book, Hatching Twitter: A True Story of Money, Power, Friendship, and Betrayal.

If this project is already reminding you of The Social Network — even the book's title sounds close to Accidental Billionaires! — don't worry, the studio is aware. But, as producer Allison Shearmur commented on the project, it's going to be much different: "Hatching Twitter will go behind the scenes of a groundbreaking Silicon Valley company in a way that’s never been captured before on television," she said. "The Social Network was a perfect film, and this series will be different, providing a longer view of the work life changes, gamesmanship and personal sacrifices made by a group of individuals who are building a company that will change the way that people communicate."

Though there's not much info as to what the plot of the television series will be yet, Hatching Twitter focuses on four main players, per the official synopsis: "Ev, Jack, Biz, and Noah [who] conceived of Twitter while working on Odeo, an ultimately doomed attempt to revolutionize podcasting. As their little chick grew, the four men's personal and ideological differences led to a power struggle that eventually left them all on the sidelines as a former stand-up comedian took Twitter into the uncertain future."

Since its release last month, the book has already made the New York Times ' bestsellers chart.
