Burberry Launches Apple Music Channel

by Melodi Erdogan

As the first-ever brand to launch on the new streaming service, Burberry has launched an Apple Music Channel, solidifying the label's place as a lifestyle brand beyond just fashion. The channel will feature multiple playlists, videos, and exclusive content for $9.99, aka, the monthly cost of the subscription to Apple Music.

The Burberry channel will be found within the "curators" section of Apple Music. The fittingly named "From The Burberry Runway," playlist features music heard on, you guessed it, the Burberry runway. Other playlists are called "Emerging British Talent" and "Christopher Bailey's Music Monday," which is a hand-picked list of tunes curated by Burberry's Creative Director himself.

The playlists are filled with fun artists like Palace and Marina And The Diamonds, plus classics from the likes of Elton John and The Rolling Stones.

Just in time for the upcoming London Fashion Week, Burberry's Apple Music channel will also include a set of live performance videos that will be filmed from their shows, including Alison Moyet's scheduled set at the Womenswear show on Sept. 21.

Cool as this is, it isn't Burberry's first musical rodeo. Since 2010, the brand has been putting out the Burberry Acoustic series, tapping independent British artists to perform wearing classic plaid and trench coats.

While not the first fashion-related channel (Vogue beat them to the punch), Burberry is the first singular brand to create a spot on Apple Music. It only makes sense, since music and fashion seem so well-aligned and Burberry seems to have a particularly solid relationship with musicians.

For all the years that I've drooled over Burberry collections, I have also admired how many well-dressed singers, songwriters, and band members are typically spotted in the brand's front row. Let's look back on seven past musician attendees who are sure to be featured on the Burberry Apple Music Channel. That is, if they're not already on it!

Love me like you do, Burberry. Songstress Goudling is a no-brainer pick for the brand's playlists on Apple Music. Just check out how amazing she looks in this olive-y leather shift dress from the brand.

2. Kasabian

Never heard of Serge Pizzorno? Does the band Kasabian ring a bell? Considering their rock, electronic sound, and the fact that Pizzorno has been a guest at Burberry's collections in the past, they'd be a perfect fit.

3. Paloma Faith

Ballads are Faith's specialty, and I have no doubt there will be at least one or two featured on the Burberry playlist. Plus, she has some killer, Burberry-approved style.

4. John Taylor

Should I even be explaining Taylor?

5. Sam Smith

Or Smith? No, I didn't think so. They're both perfect for the Burberry playlist. Or, you know, every playlist.

6. Remi Nicole

When you count Alexa Chung and Pixie Geldof as your close friends, you know you're a Burberry insider. Plus, just look at the way she pulls off that classic scarf.

7. The Kills

Also known at Mr. Kate Moss, Jamie Hince and his band, The Kills, have a rock, indie rock vibe. When you're married to fashion royalty I'm pretty sure you automatically earn a spot on any fashion brand's playlist.
