Boozy Taco Bell Might Open Sooner Than Expected

by Eliza Castile

When our beloved bestower of 4 a.m. burritos, creator of the Fourthmeal, and purveyor of Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes (long may they reign) first announced that it would begin serving alcohol at one specific location, I, like you, had more than a few questions. First, when will Taco Bell serve alcohol? Second, how much will a plane ticket to said location cost? Inquiring minds absolutely must know so they can plan their vacations accordingly. Nobody wants to show up to work the morning after they spend a day binging on gorditas while funneling Mountain Dew mixed with Captain Morgan.

Taco Bell went on to answer two of the three questions, which is good enough for me. The fast-food chain, which is owned by Yum! Brands, announced in June that it would begin selling alcohol in a new, upscale "urban concept" Taco Bell location in Wicker Park, Chicago. The store officially opens its doors on Sept. 22, but according to USA Today, officials have stated that a "soft opening" is planned for Tuesday, Sept. 15. That's right — Taco Bell is opening its liquor cabinet to the hordes of hungry Chicago fast food lovers a week early. And even better, Sept. 15 is today.

In other words, Taco Bell basically pulled a Beyonce. I'm so proud.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Wicker Park location will sell beer, wine, and liquor. Individual-size Steelhead wine bottles will go for $4, while Dos Equis and Fat Tire are on tap for $4 and $4.50, respectively. If you're planning on partying it up, though, the Tribune reports that you can spike a frozen Cantina Punch, Cantina Margarita, or Mountain Dew Baja Blast with rum, vodka, or tequila. The Associate Press also reports that the Wicker Park Taco Bell isn't the only one with plans to booze it up soon — called "Taco Bell Cantinas," these alcohol-friendly locations may pop up in locations like San Francisco before too much time has passed.

Bustle reached out to Taco Bell for comment and will update if we hear back.

What a time to be alive!
