Will Kristin Offer New 'Hills' Info on 'Bethenny'?

by Kristie Rohwedder

Guess which reality star will be sitting down with Bethenny Frankel on Friday? Nope, not a Housewife. Kristin Cavallari of The Hills and Laguna Beach will be on Bethenny. Steeepheennnnn! "Kristin Cavallari is finally spilling the MTV dirt," Frankel says in the preview clip voice-over. Not to nitpick that word choice, but finally? Like, is she really going to say anything that earth-shattering? Haven't we established everything about The Hills was super fake? Wait. What if the "dirt" she spills is that The Hills was totally real? Are we going to find out that the show was fake about being fake? THAT WOULD DEFINITELY SHATTER THE EARTH.

Cavallari isn't the only Hills alumnus sharing reality TV secrets (or non-secrets) these days. Last week, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag's E! special aired. Of course I watched After Shock: Heidi & Spencer. I didn't inhale the summer's The Hills marathon (and alternate ending!) to not care about where Montag and Pratt ended up. I care deeply. But... why are Cavallari and Speidi talking about this stuff now? No one seems to be promoting anything. It's only been three years. I guess I'd understand it if it was the 10 year anniversary or something. I just don't get the timing.

Between the E! special, Speidi's various interviews, and Cavallari's TV appearances, what pieces of info were "revealed?" Let's go through some of 'em! As much as I love revisiting The Hills, I do think it's bizarre that the following info is being treated like news. Because it's not new. I'm sorry to be that person, Frankel! This "gossip" is old, dusty dirt. You can spill it, but it won't be exciting.

I started with the least shocking and worked up to the most "I hadn't heard that before. Way to be something new" statement.

Cavallari to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live: "[The Hills was] Pretty fake … Fake relationships, fake fights."

We all know this, yes? Next, please!

Cavallari to Frankel: "When I decided to join The Hills , I knew exactly what I was getting into, I knew exactly the character they wanted to me. So I said, 'I'm game. What do you want me to do?'"

Again, the characterization/casting of Cavallari isn't fresh info.

During the E! special, Pratt says the "reality" show was full of fake scenes. He says, "We shot like 14 or 15 takes of [an argument] from different angles, and then [Montag] got back in my car, and we drove off."

Multiple takes? Like a scripted drama! WHO KNEW IT WASN'T REAL? Oh right. We all did.

Cavallari to Frankel: "They would text us what to say."

Conrad told Glamour the same thing back in 2012. So, it's a fun fact, but it's not news.

Pratt to People: "I was just paid millions of dollars to pretend I didn't like somebody," he admitted. "And I'm a really good actor if you pay me millions. Somebody's got to be the bad guy and she's the good girl."

I had a feeling he was acting all along. A hunch. I'm so intuitive.

Cavallari tells Frankel that she and Brody Jenner didn't actually get back together after he and Jayde Nicole broke up. In fact, Jayde Nicole and Jenner were still together at the time.

No, I didn't know this. But is it particularly surprising? No. Not at all.

When Cohen asks Cavallari which cast member she regrets dating, she says, "I would say Justin, but I never really dated him … I think I made out with him once, and that took a lot of convincing…"

They had the strangest chemistry on the show. I don't even want to look into Justin-Bobby and Audrina Patridge's relationship. I have to believe their love was real.

When Cohen asks Cavallari about Lauren Conrad, she said her "distaste" for Conrad was not for the cameras.

Oh! The only thing that wasn't staged was the LC/Kristin feud? Ah. Interesting.

During the E! special, Montag says the producers tried to convince Pratt to leave her at the altar at their Hills wedding. He did not leave her at the altar at their Hills wedding.

Whoa. Ice cold, MTV. Ice cold.

Also during the E! special, Pratt reveals he is addicted to pie.

Huh. Not judging or snarking. I just didn't see that one coming.

Hm. Am I a part of the problem? Because for being a bunch of non-gossip, I sure spent a lot of energy on it. And yes, I'll watch the Cavallari/Frankel interview. Ah yes. I am invested after all.
