Kris Doesn't Call Caitlyn By Her First Name

Ever since Caitlyn Jenner officially came out as a transgender woman, it's been an adjustment for her family, especially for her ex-wife Kris Jenner. While chatting with Access Hollywood on Thursday, it was revealed that Kris Jenner calls Caitlyn Jenner "Jenner," rather than using her first name. At first, some might find this disrespectful on Kris' part, but before throwing judgment her way take a moment to put yourself in her shoes. The two were married for over 20 years, so it's completely understandable that she needs time to come to terms with everything.

She told Access Hollywood,

It's hard, you know, it's really, really hard. What I have realized in all of this is that everyone handles stuff a different way. No matter what it is, you know. We're all people. We all have different emotions.

For Kris, it's hard to not see Caitlyn as Bruce, the individual Caitlyn lived as for over 60 years, especially when it comes to Caitlyn's personality, which is definitely not what the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star expected. Kris explained, "I just thought she would be a little bit different. Bruce had a distinct personality and, you know, had definite characteristics. And Caitlyn has some different ones, I feel."

She also revealed that she is "getting to know [Caitlyn]" gradually. They've even hung out a few times, including recently having a drink together, which Kris described as "nice."

This isn't the first time Kris has opened up about Caitlyn. During an interview with People, she discussed their current relationship and said, "It's good. It's fine. You know, it's a process. I think everything takes a little bit of time. We're still family. We still have kids together. And it will work itself out."

I respect the fact that she's staying positive and keeping an open mind, because undoubtedly this is a lot to take in for Kris. At least she's being honest about how difficult the situation is, rather than trying to fake her emotions. There's no doubt that there is probably a lot of pain and uncomfortableness between Kris and Caitlyn, but in due time I hope that Kris will come to love and accept Caitlyn for her true self — name included.
