The World's First Gummy Candy 3D Printer Is Here

by Kat George

If you're a sweet tooth, the world's first 3D gummy candy printer is here to fulfill all your wildest Willy Wonka daydreams. The 3D candy printer was born in Berlin, and comes from the "Magic Candy Factory," which sounds about right, because 3D-printing still seems like some kind of wild magic to me. The printer has been developed by a German company called Katjes Fassin (the printer lives at their cafe, Katjes Café Grün-Ohr in Berlin), and has taken more than a year to come into our lives, but it seems to be well worth the wait. The gummies it produces are vegan, dairy free, gluten free and all natural (they're made from fruit puree and vegetarian gels), so not only is the printer making delicious candies, we can eat as many of them as we want forever. Excuse me while I book the next flight to Berlin.

The printer makes a gummy in between three to ten minutes depending on variables like size, whereas similar machines can take up to an hour, which seems like a steep time investment for a small candy that will be gone in one bite. There are 12 shapes, 10 colors and flavors (each flavor named after the city the machine is visiting while on tour) and each candy weighs around 15-20 grams. Let's have a look at the magic close up, shall we:

3. You Can Even Write Your Name In Candy
