Sad Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting & Ryan Sweeting News

by Maggie Malach

The summer of celebrity breakups continues. Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting are getting divorced, PEOPLE reports. Cuoco denied divorce rumors earlier this year, making the news all the sadder. The couple were married for 21 months.

"Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage," Cuoco's rep told PEOPLE. "They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter."

Earlier this week, Cuoco spoke publicly about Sweeting, insisting that there's no awkwardness between him and her ex-boyfriend, Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki. "Well, we dated like five years ago, so I think we both moved on," Cuoco said during a pre-taped segment of Watch What Happens Live (quote via Us Weekly). "Johnny is actually one of my best friends. It’s a situation that ended well. I understand sometimes it doesn’t. It could have gone horrible."

In August, Cuoco also spoke with Entertainment Tonight about starting a family with Sweeting, saying, "Soon enough." She opened up about their marriage, explaining, "When he calls and says 'I'm going to pick up the groceries,' I'm like 'I love you, thank you, I really appreciate that!' It's the little things."

Back in April, Cuoco reportedly posted several photos of Sweeting on Instagram. One poked fun at rumors with the caption, "We are totally getting divorced, can't you tell!!?! 4 weeks apart and finally reunited — I missed this guy more than anything !! #rumors #notpregnant #totallymarried." The photo has since been deleted.

Cuoco and Sweeting married on Dec. 31, 2013, after only three months of dating. Cuoco wore a stunning pink gown, which she later repurposed for an episode of The Big Bang Theory. Shortly after the wedding, Sweeting got a tattoo of Cuoco's name. She also commemorated the marriage with the wedding date tattooed on her back.
