Will Personality Help These 7 Actors This Awards Season?

Positive visualization is a real thing, people. And when you've had as great of a year as the stars on this list, it's really not hard to do. With the nominations for the Golden Globes and SAG Awards already announced and the Oscar announcement not far away, we couldn't help but notice that a lot of this year's Globe nominees had an epic 2013. And an epic 2013 means and epic award season in Hollywood.

It's no secret that talented stars win awards — but stars who are talented, happy, functional in their personal lives, and Internet and social media-friendly have an even higher chance of taking home the golden statue at the end of the night. (And taking shots backstage). Just see previous wins from American Sweethearts Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, and Reese Witherspoon, and trophies for actresses with thriving personal lives, like Natalie Portman, who was pregnant and newly engaged when she received her statue. So we went through this year's list of nominees (and a few non-nominees that should have received nods) to pull the most deserving of awards season glory based on their performances off-screen in 2013.

From Jennifer Lawrence's non-campaign to become America's new sweetheart to Aaron Paul making "bitch" happen, 2013 was full of actors that just won at life. Now, all that remains to be seen is whether Hollywood will take that into consideration.

Jennifer Lawrence: Most Gif'd of 2013/Most Charming/Most Everything Right In The World

Whether she was shaming her own fat-shamers, feuding with Joan Rivers, or falling up the stairs to receive her first Academy Award, Lawrence has been undeniably charming this 2013. The American Hustle star and Supporting Actress nominee was without a doubt the most gif’d actor of 2013 and for the endless Internet lolz and charm she’s dished out to us lucky mortals, she deserves to take home all of the awards. And, you know what? She probably will.

Aaron Paul: Instagram Winner

We fell in love with Jesse Pinkman (against our better judgement), but in real life, we fell in love with Aaron Paul in 2013 because he epically owned social media (his Instagram account was top notch) — and the word “bitch.” Plus, this year was Breaking Bad's final showing, and he made a memorable SNL cameo to toast it. Soo give him all of those awards now, bitch, so we can celebrate.

Kate Winslet: Breaking The "Best Actress" Curse

Winslet scored an unsurprising Golden Globes nod for her role in the limited-release Labor Day because, well, she’s Kate Winslet and everyone (including the stuffiest of Hollywood critics) love her. But it’s her personal life that makes us believe she’s a front-runner this awards season.

Remember when Winslet fell victim to the Best Actress curse and separated from then-husband, director Sam Mendes, in 2010 following her win at the 2009 Academy Awards? Well, her luck finally turned around. She met Ned Rocknroll and the pair married in December 2012 (which basically counts as part of 2013) and the curse was broken. In Dec. 2013, the two welcomed a son, Bear Winslet, and there you have it: A new marriage and a baby makes for a great year and seriously ups your odds of walking home with a statue. Remember Natalie?

Chris Hemsworth: Cute Babies x2

Another star made luckier by an incredibly perfect family. Hemsworth has yet to be nominated this season, but his film Rush has scored a nod. If anything’s going to increase the odds of this season’s “little film that could,” it’s going to be the copious images of Chris Hemsworth’s giant hands cradling his adorable daughter, India. And it definitely isn’t going to hurt and he and wife Elsa Pataky are expecting another child in 2014. Perhaps his golden days are still in the future?

Kerry Washington: A Wedding And A Baby

I know the first thing you think of when you see Washington’s name is the impressive and fabulous collection of coats her Scandal character, Olivia Pope, is lucky to wear. But Washington had a romantic and exciting year in her personal life that, aside from her excellent performance, means that an award win would be the icing on her cake.

Washington married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha in June 2013 and announced in Oct. 2013 that the two were expecting. It’s clear that babies are going to rule this awards season. Thank them later, parents.

Amy Poehler: Master Of The Universe

She is our savior. It’s no secret that we love Amy Poehler and that our favorite pretend-BFF literally can do no wrong. The funny-lady and Parks and Rec star somehow found the time to host the Golden Globes, pen a memoir, and oversee a new TV series while also casually saving the world and inspiring us all to be the best versions of ourselves. So just give her all the awards because she’s superwoman.

In fact, maybe we should just forget the awards and start campaigning for Poehler 2016.

Scarlett Johansson: Most Meme'd

One of the greatest memes of 2013 was a perfect accident — literally. In the second-most-famous fall of the year (Jennifer Lawrence will always top the list), the beautiful and talented Scarlett Johansson took a tumble and it (and her perfect facial expression) was thankfully captured by paparazzi. And so, “Scarlett Johansson Falling Down” was born and the fall was immortalized for all eternity.

Johansson hasn’t received a nod for her stunning voice-only role in Spike Jonze’s sci-fi romance Her — but if being the most meme’d celebrity of 2013 means anything, it’s that this girl could have a chance at Oscar.
