If you're a devout cupcake fan, there's nothing more enticing than hundreds — nay, thousands — of different cupcakes, all in one place, representing a huge variety of flavors, frostings, toppings. Does that sound like you? Then brace yourself for this extremely-drool worthy news: Baked By Melissa, a New York-based cupcake shop, broke the world record for largest cupcake art mosaic in the world on Tuesday in honor of John Lennon's 75th birthday. The mosaic, which was created in front of the Bethesda Fountain in New York's Central Park, depicted a giant peace sign above the words "#ImaginePeace." It contained 40,000 cupcakes and was done in collaboration with Yoko Ono and the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.
Baked By Melissa's mosaic is certainly an impressive feat — but somewhat hilariously (and also deliciously), it's not the only cupcake-related record in the world. Might the bake shop attempt to break a few of these other tasty records next? One that remains to be broken is the world's largest cupcake, which was achieved by Georgetown Cupcakes in 2011 when they baked a cupcake that was 56 inches tall and 36 inches wide; additionally, another, the world's tallest cupcake tower, was set in 2013 at Myrtle Beach where the City of Myrtle Beach's 75th birthday was celebrated by a 21 foot tall cupcake tower. Goals to aspire to, no?
