'The Final Girls' Bloopers Are Scary Funny

The Final Girls isn't your typical horror film — in addition to being a scare-providing thriller, it's also a laugh-out-loud comedy. Director Todd Strauss-Schulson assembled a cast of horror veterans like American Horror Story star Taissa Farmiga and slapstick comedy pros like Workaholics' Adam Devine and let the chemistry fly. The resulting movie is uproariously unconventional, and it also has another unique aspect: a gag real. The Final Girls ' bloopers are hilarious, and the clips of the cast goofing off is inserted right at the end of the movie as opposed to being a separate special feature. Having a gag reel like this allows the filmmakers to include jokes that didn't make it into the final cut of the movie, show the real-life chemistry between the cast, and let viewers see funny behind-the-scenes action like prop and wardrobe malfunctions. Strauss-Schulson told The New York Times, "This is a fun profession, and films should be fun to make. You might not want to do a gag reel if it was a nightmare shooting the movie.”

Based on the bloopers, it looks like The Final Girls was a blast to shoot— and the fact that the gag reel is a part of the film makes it even more enjoyable to watch. The only drawback is that since the movie just hit theaters, it might be a while before you can watch The Final Girls' bloopers online. In the meantime, here are some hilarious gag reels from your favorite movies to tide you over.

Step Brothers

How anybody could keep a straight face in a room with John C. Reilly and WIll Ferrell is beyond me, so it's not at all surprising that Step Brothers has an extensive reel of outtakes and extra jokes.

The Hangover

Even Zach Galifianakis couldn't take himself seriously while wearing Alan's "satchel."

Trainwreck

Amy Schumer. YAASSS.

Knocked Up

In addition to being sidesplitting, this gag reel shows Judd Apatow's real-life daughters at their most adorable.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Ever the family man, Apatow directs his wife Leslie Mann in a drunken scene with Steve Carrell. Equally hilarious is her reply of "Honey, we have kids!" when he feeds her a line about doing ecstasy.

Zoolander

I don't know what's better: the poodle, or Will Ferrell as a little girl with a giant lollipop.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Apparently, there were a lot of bugs on this film's set in Hawaii...

Superbad

...and the Superbad set wasn't free from insects, either. Hey, bees are scary.

If you're not already cracking up by the time you've watched all of these, you must have had a really bad day...or maybe you just need to leave your house and go see The Final Girls. The horror comedy is screening now in select cities, so don't miss your chance to see some screamingly funny outtakes.
