Carey Mulligan Is Killing The 'Suffragette' Tour

by Rosie Narasaki

Oh, Carey Mulligan. She just takes your breath away, doesn't she? After taking a brief maternity-induced break from the red carpets (she just gave birth to her and Marcus Mumford's first child in September), Ms. Mulligan is officially back on the red carpet — and just as uniquely stylish as ever. Luckily for us fans of her sartorial stylings, she's currently out and about promoting the upcoming Suffragette. So far, she's already made appearances at the London photo call for the film at the BFI London Film Festival, as well as at the movie's premiere (which also happened to be part of the BFI London Film Festival's opening gala).

For the Suffragette photo call in London, Mulligan went for some seriously laidback glam, opting for a fun combination of luxe textiles and slouchy silhouettes, courtesy of Marni. She paired a floral black and gold sweatshirt with an absolutely gorgeous duochrome lacy A-line skirt. Then, at the opening gala, she went all out with eccentrically silhouetted, balletic — what else? — Chanel couture (the dress in question comes from Chanel's recent Fall 2015 Casino show). Featuring multiple tulle explosions across the hemline and at the end of each sleeve, as well as a delicately crystal-covered, lattice-like pattern across the body, the dress was quite the work of art. Mulligan styled the look accordingly, pairing it with simple-yet-glamorous shoes, and even more simple-yet-glamorous (think pre-Raphaelite) hair and makeup. Let's take a look at the two winningly winsome looks:

Adorable and comfy, with just the right amount of quirk-to-glamour ratio to really make it sing.

Everything from the busy high-low hem to the fairy princess-worthy tulle to the antiqued violet taupe shade is almost ridiculously pretty. Plus, check out how artsy the silhouette looks from the back:

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see how the rest of the press tour for Suffragette unfolds over the next few weeks (unfortunately worded ad campaigns aside).
