Carrie Underwood's New Song Is Perfectly Romantic

by Caitlyn Callegari

I have been to a Carrie Underwood concert before, so I can say this with the utmost certainty: she is a melodic angel from up above, hearing her sing is a religious experience, and every song is like a damn prayer. So, you can say that I'm just a little bit excited about the fact that Underwood's new song, "Heartbeat", has been released. It's both different from and similar to her past hits, and it's one that I think is going to be a staple on your playlists real soon.

This song falls in line with Underwood's more romantic tunes, rather that the badass hits like "Before He Cheats" and "Two Black Cadillacs." Each specific subject matter Underwood touches on strikes a chord in me in a different way, but I do have to admit I gravitate to her more sensitive songs more readily, which is why "Heartbeat" is such a treat. It still maintains an upbeat vibe while featuring lyrics straight from the heart. And, with a singer like Underwood providing vocals, it's hard for the song not to resonate with listeners. How the artist conveys sincere, emotional honesty in her voice is perhaps what makes songs such as this one so memorable. You can check it out below.

But does it make the list of Underwood's most romantic songs? Here's how "Heartbeat" ranks.

7. "Just A Dream"

Alright, this one is also devastating, but you can't deny the romance of the relationship that caused her such heartache. I'm a masochist, I think.

6. "Good In Goodbye"

OK, this is another heart-wrenching one. Sue me. But it's still super sweet.

5. "Inside Your Heaven"

This was the last dance song at my eighth grade prom. Let me tell you, romance abounded on that hotel dance floor.

4. "Heartbeat"

Just the right amounts subdued and sultry. A new favorite for sure.

3. "Just Can't Live A Lie"

You think it's a song about heartbreak and then... bam. The feels.

2. "Some Hearts"

I cry. I die. I live again. This song, man. This. Song.

1. "I Told You So"

Yes, it's a cover. But, so what? *Wipes at tears furiously* It's truly one of her most emotionally staying vocal performances.

Underwood really knows how to do a ballad and do it right.
