It's so relieving to see Fitz and Simmons back together, but Tuesday's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.ended with what could be yet another bump in their relationship. All I want is for them to have a quiet moment, but I understand how difficult that can be in their line of work. What's going on with Simmons on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ? She returned from the alien planet and the monolith was destroyed, but now she wants to go back? Girl, no! Why?
At the top of the episode, Jemma was still acclimating to her return to normalcy and, like, gravity. Fitz helped her. It was wonderful. Her senses also seemed heightened in a way that wasn't all... human. Has she been affected by the alien planet? Does she have super abilities now? Or is this how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is visually representing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and triggering? Until we learn more, I'd say either is possible. Bobbi suggested that Fitz try to give her something to look forward to rather than focusing on what she used to love. So, to alleviate her distractions, Fitz cleared out a restaurant (smooth move) and took her to dinner. Finally! A real, also wonderful, candle-lit FitzSimmons date! Unfortunately, Jemma was triggered by something on the menu, so the evening wasn't completely joyous. Still, it was nice to see them have some percentage of a moment.
At the end of the episode, Bobbi found Simmons looking over the portal materials. She told her not to worry. The portal was definitely destroyed and wouldn't open again. That didn't help, and sparked the revelation that Simmons wants the portal to open again so that she can return.
I wonder why she needs to get back there. We only saw her running from unseen threats and crawling through space storms. Surely this is more than a scientific endeavor, too. Are there others still out there that she needs to rescue? Did she make an important discovery or leave something behind? I knew that we couldn't possibly be through with that blue-grey alien terrain on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
