Lady Gaga Brought Back Bangs For 'Billboard' Cover

Bangs, bangs everywhere! Lady Gaga rocked statement bangs on her Billboard cover with her friend and frequent collaborator Elton John, who is the father of her two godsons. The cover celebrates the duo's philanthropy moreso than their music, which is amazing! The serious nature of the story is likely why Gaga toned things down a bit with her cover look, rocking a soft, '70s, and Stevie Nicks-inspired coif instead of something outrageous and eyebrow-raising.

Gaga's face is framed by long, thick waves. There's no thinning of the ends and and there are no layers. It's a heavy look from another decade and the coif is capped off by thick, heavy, rolled bangs. It's a wig and it works.

The singer and American Horror Story: Hotel star totally culled influence from Nicks, who was a fashion icon back in the Fleetwood Mac heyday.

Gaga is also fresh off a recent bangs controversy. She sported baby bangs for a hot minute during Fashion Week festivities and an underground band accused her of biting their frontwoman's style. But that didn't deter Mother Monster from doing bangs another day, another way. The singer is fearless and will try anything once or 10 times. I think bangs totally work with her face, whether they are super severe and short or bulky and bowl-cut, like below.

Big hair requires even bigger bangs. The whole hair presentation framed her face.

Gaga also showed off a softer look and a long, center-parted bangs on the Summer 2014 issue of Porter. Once again, she borrowed inspo from Nicks. This 'do had tons and tons of layers, though.

Shaggy bangs also suit her.

As do severe ones!

Gaga got a dose of faux bangs from a ponytail that was flipped forward for I-D. It's a clever trick that requires some dexterity or a stylist.

Ma Monster was like Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface, which is another iconic and oft-copied bang look.

OK, so it's time for the showstopper. Here's the iconic Rumours album cover, which presents Nicks as a fairy x ballerina x goth queen. Her flowing outfit and her heavy bangs are certainly the source material for Gaga's look. This enduring image has inspired many starlets in the modern era. It's a total classic that deserves to be revisited and interpreted, as Gaga has a few times.
