Marty & Doc's Epic Entrance On 'Jimmy Kimmel'

As you know from every corner of the internet, Wednesday is Back To The Future Day, meaning it's the day that characters Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) and Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) travel to in the beloved 1989 movie Back To The Future Part II. Fox and Lloyd reprised their roles for an epic Back To The Future tribute on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night. The ABC late night talk show started as it usually does, with host Kimmel riffing during his monologue about the day's events. Then, he got to the fact that Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 is indeed the day that Back To The Future Part II visits in all its hoverboarding glory. "I remember when I first saw the movie and imagined what life would be like in the future," Kimmel started saying, but then then lights on his set at the Brooklyn Academy of Music began to flicker.

And that's when the famous Delorean car drives onto the stage. Fox and Lloyd exit in character as Marty and Doc to thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the audience. "Great Scott!" Doc exclaims at the sight, giving us all his well-known catchphrase in the real 2015. Marty and Doc marvel at the stage, the audience, and the fact that they're on TV, meanwhile I was in awe of the fact that they both looked so much like they did in the film. "Everyone must have come here in their flying cars," Fox as Marty observes. Sadly, Kimmel has to break it to Marty and Doc that he isn't the late Johnny Carson, and 2015 doesn't have flying cars, real hoverboards, or peace in the Middle East. They take solace in the fact that the Chicago Cubs baseball team was in the MLB playoffs, but I'm guessing this was taped before the New York Mets eliminated them and advanced to the World Series on late Wednesday night.

Then Marty asks, "What the hell have you guys been doing for 30 years?" Kimmel tells him about the cronut and takes a selfie with them on his smartphone, which he describes as, "Mainly, we use it to send little smiley faces and eggplants to each other."

It's the truth and Marty isn't pleased. "2015 kinda sucks," Marty observes, and that's even before he asks about rival Biff, who was supposed to become a casino owner and ruin the world. Kimmel tells him, "That guy's running for president." (Ha! A Donald Trump joke!) Doc tries to explain things by saying they must have traveled to an alternate 2015 and he leaves Marty with Kimmel as he goes to "repair the space time continuum."

Hey Doc, if you can track down the 2015 with the hoverboards, can you take me with you? (Smiley emoji)
