Three Jerks Bring Their Jerky To 'Shark Tank'

by Rosie Narasaki

Have you heard of Three Jerks Jerky? As its name might suggest, it's, well, jerky — but with a special twist. Specially formulated by best friends Daniel Fogelson and Jordan Barrocas, Three Jerks Jerky, appearing on Shark Tank this Friday night, promises something of an elevated jerky experience. First off, it's made with filet mignon, and Fogelson and Barrocas spent over a year tinkering with the process and recipe to really give it a special, homemade flavor. What started off as a passion project has quickly taken flight, with Three Jerks Jerky being sold in stores and farmer's markets across the country.

So, where can you get a hold of it? Well, right now, the easiest place to get it is online — either on the Three Jerks website, or Amazon. You can get a bag for $11.99 a pop — though, if you want to really stock up, you can nab three bags for $30. Oh, and if you're really feeling extravagant? You can treat yourself to the decadent Golden Meat Box, which comes with a bag of each of the three flavors, plus a bag of 24-karat gold-coated edible jerky, as well as an armored aluminum case to carry it all in.

Think they've got what it takes to swim with the Sharks? Here are a few facts to know about the two jerks behind Three Jerks Jerky before tuning into this week's Shark Tank.

What Are The Flavors?

Right now, there's original (which is seasoned with soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, and more), Memphis BBQ, and Chipotle Adobo, a combination of Mexican and Filipino flavors.

How Popular Is It?

Well, according to the Los Angeles Times, Three Jerks Jerky is currently being sold in 41 stores across the nation — so it's doing pretty well so far! Plus, they managed to exceed their Kickstarter goal of $20,000 by more than double (they raised $45,663 during their 30-day campaign).

Can You Make It Yourself?

Absolutely! Three Jerks even released a video (and recipe) explaining how to make their trademark recipe, so all you DIY-ers out there can give it a try.

Who's The Third Jerk?

You've got co-creators Daniel Fogelson and Jordan Barrocas, and then you've got the jerky itself — voila, three jerks.

I don't know about you, but they've definitely won me over. Let's hope the eponymous Three Jerks are ready to face the Sharks this week and score a deal.
