The Best Halloween Movies The Web Has To Offer

With Halloween less than 10 days away, it's officially time to embrace your love the holiday and stream Halloween movies online. These films are to Halloween what holiday music is to Christmas — essential, and totally fun for year-round consumption. If you're one of those people who loves watching Halloween movies all year long, then you know that now is the only time your friends can't make fun of you for consuming as many of them as your freaky heart desires. To help make sure you get the most out of this Halloween movie season, here are the top nine Halloween movies available to watch online from Netflix, HBO Go, iTunes and Amazon Video.

Any Halloween movie lover will tell you there are many different genres that fit into the category — horror, fantasy, thriller, drama, comedy. The perfect film for the season is usually some combination of the genres, like Hocus Pocus or Cabin in the Woods. Keep in mind, this list is only a snippet of what's out there, but it does have a nice mix of straight horror and some kid-friendly comedy, made for all your Halloween needs. Enjoy!

1. The Final Girls

The Final Girls, a new horror-comedy hybrid about teenage friends who get sucked into the world of their favorite campy horror film, was simultaneously released in limited theaters and online earlier this month. The movie, starring Taissa Farmiga and Nina Dobrev, got great reviews and is 100% Halloween approved. The Final Girls is currently available to rent on iTunes for $6.99, and it is also available on Amazon Video.

2. The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project scared an entire generation of kids and re-popularized the found-footage horror. It's available to rent in both on Amazon Video and iTunes for $3.99 — in HD — or $2.99 — in SD. Watch this one with the lights on.

3. Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is, sadly, not available to stream on iTunes. But it is available to rent on Amazon Video and iTunes — in SD for $2.99 and HD for $3.99.

4. Gone Girl

OK, so Gone Girl isn't really horror, and it doesn't scream Halloween. But, think about it, what better way to celebrate the holiday than to watch a movie about a psycho woman hell-bent on revenge? Gone Girl is currently streaming on HBO Go and Now, so you might need to Gone Girl a loved one to get their HBO password in the first place.

5. The Babadook

This horror film about a single mother and young son who are haunted by a sinister presence was an undercover hit in 2014, and is now streaming on Netflix.

6. Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetle—AAAAAAAH! The comedic horror of Tim Burton's classic ghost story is, for some reason, considered family friendly, and thus has given an unimaginable number of children nightmares. It is also currently streaming on HBO Go and Now.

7. The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas has stumped fans for years. Is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? If you want to watch it again to make a final decision, it's streaming on Netflix.

8. Scream

Wes Craven's 1996 classic, Scream, needs absolutely no explanation. Just know it's on Netflix Instant Watch.

9. The Exorcist

The Exorcist is a horror classic, and will probably scare you more than you care to be scared on Halloween (if that's possible). The 1973 film is available to rent on Amazon Video and iTunes for $3.99 in HD and $2.99 in SD.
