by Carina Wolff

We've all seen those women with seemingly perfectly clear and flawless skin and can't help to wonder how do they do it? Do they simply have everyday habits that improve and perfect skin, or were they blessed with an amazing complexion? Maybe they have all the top notch products and discipline in the world. Turns out, you can definitely have good genes, but there are certain daily habits that can make a huge difference with your skin, and I have to say, clearly it pays off.

Despite what it may look like on the outside, you definitely don't have to invest in the most expensive skincare line on the market or get a facial every month to keep your skin looking in tip-top shop. Instead, you just need to pay attention to it daily, making sure you keeping it cleansed and full of nutrients that help repair and soothe the skin. Waking up with a flawless complexion is just as attainable for you as it is for any other person if you happen to treat your skincare routine right.

To help your skin get as clear, glowy, and radiant as possible, I consulted with dermatologist Dr. Soheil Simzar of Ava MD to let us in on the everyday habits of people who have extremely good skin.

1. They Use Sunscreen

"Use daily broad spectrum sunblock with SPF 30-50 and reapply as needed," says Simzar over email. "The sun causes breakdown of collagen leading to fine lines and DNA damage, leading to skin cancer, and brown spots. Reapplication is key since sunblock only gives you 2-3 hours of protection."

2. They Use Antioxidant Serum Or Cream

"Antioxidants help reverse sun-induced DNA damage," says Simzar. Other ways to up your intake of antioxidants include eating healthy fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E, vitamin A, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Now you have even more reasons to hit the gym. Studies have found that exercising can help reverse aging in skin, and with all that movement and blood flow to the face, can have your skin looking more vibrant and glowing.

5. They Moisturize

Although it does make your face feel good, moisturizing is more important than having smooth skin. "Moisturizing maintains a protective barrier on the surface of the skin and helps improve complexion," says Simzar. Moisturize daily both in the morning and at night.

6. They Remove Makeup

We've heard it time and time again, but leaving your makeup on at night can wreak havoc on your skin. "Sleeping without removing makeup can clog your pores and cause breakouts," says Simzar.

7. They Stay Away From Sugar

Although we all enjoy a good cupcake here and there, eating sugar too often can cause inflammation in the skin, leading to breakouts, sagging skin, and wrinkles.
