Welp, this is the most Jennifer Lawrence-y story about Jennifer Lawrence that you're going to read today. Seriously, I took one look at this post on Vulture and all I could think of was, "have I ever been less surprised by an article about Jennifer Lawrence?" The answer is, I haven't, and you probably won't be either: In a new interview with W magazine for their annual movie issue, Jennifer Lawrence revealed exactly why she tripped at the Oscars while she was heading on stage to receive her best actress award nearly a year ago. The reasoning is simple. She was thinking about cake.
If you listen closely, you can hear thousands of more people falling in love with her.
"I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk. I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell."
So, y'know, that solves that. It makes sense, actually — J. Law does have a documented history of being obsessed with cake. It's been a rocky friendship, though...remember one of the first acting jobs she got for a My Super Sweet 16 promo, in which a disco ball falls in her cake and splatters it all over her dress?
But, thankfully, that was years ago, and J. Law and cake are all right now.
