You Can Now Enter The 'Hunger Games' — Kind Of

by Maggie Malach

There's an understandable sadness that comes with the Hunger Games movie franchise coming to a close this year. However, you can continue to immerse yourself in the world of Panem — for better or for worse — thanks to the Hunger Games attractions coming to a theme park in Georgia. Want to visit? May the odds be ever in your favor.

Atlanta's FOX 5 News reports that the attractions are set to appear in a $625 million AVATRON Park that will include features from other Lionsgate movies, such as Step Up and Now You See Me. There haven't been any details revealed concerning the specifics of the attractions (an actual Hunger Games? A District 12 village?), but it sounds like it's going to be pretty intense, not unlike the books and the movies.

We are proud to introduce AVATRON Park to the great state of Georgia and American audiences everywhere,” James Ram, vice chairman and one of the park's principal partners, said in a news release. “We are pushing the thresholds of location-based entertainment storytelling like never before, thanks, in part, to our unique combination of experienced creative leadership and technology integration expertise. We look forward to sharing this game-changing experience with future guests.”

One of the coolest aspects of the park, as revealed in the release, is that it will carry on the storytelling aspect. The Hunger Games is so popular because it's immersive — it can be hard for fans to leave the fictional world. Likewise, the park will embrace this.

“The innovative storytelling platforms we offer provide different ways and dimensions for fans of all three franchises to continue and extend their personal engagement,” said technology innovator Jo Ram.

The park is reportedly set to open in 2019. Until then, we can ponder the amazing ways in which our vision of Panem can be expanded through this new platform.
