Where Are All The Stoner Chick Flicks? Our Ideal Pot-Smoking Leading Ladies

In the hugely successful This Is the End, America's favorite bros face the apocalypse, watch their fellow actors fall into a fiery hell pit, bond over hating Danny McBride, and exorcise a possessed Jonah Hill — but mainly, they do an absurd amount of drugs. We're talking pounds of weed being rolled into types of joints I didn't even know existed, a continuously coked up Michael Cera and ecstasy-powered, end-of-the-world dance parties. But this giant bro-fest of a film brought my attention to a pressing issue: Why has no one cashed in on female stoners? Cinematic history is practically overflowing with male-centric stoner movies that have made actors into pot-smoking icons. Here are our picks for the first-ever stoner leading ladies.

'This Is The End' and Other Stoner Bro Movies

Cinematic history is practically overflowing with male-centric stoner movies that have made actors into pot-smoking icons. Here are our picks for the first-ever stoner leading ladies.

Jennifer Lawrence

A few months ago, paparazzi caught Jennifer Lawrence smoking what appeared to be a joint in the privacy of her own hotel room, and, naturally, the disapproving media went bananas over it. If you ask us, knowing that J. Law feels comfortable relaxing with a J and a glass of wine even in spite of the relentless paparazzi only adds to her winningly laid-back, just-like-us persona.

Alia Shawkat and Ellen Page

These two frequent co-stars are also BFFs in real life, and have a co-produced, co-written HBO show in the works (with the promising title, Stitch N' Bitch). There's no real reason to believe that these two are fans of the green, but they've been impressively outspoken on other taboo topics such as female sexuality and masturbation, so I trust them 100 percent to support the liberation of female potheads.

Aubrey Plaza

Fun fact: Aubrey Plaza's acting career was launched after she had a stroke that paralyzed her face and took up acting to help her regain control over her facial expressions. So her endearing deadpan shtick wasn't 100 percent intentional, but we still think it would be a great addition to any girls' high night.

Rihanna

It's not that we're really expecting that much of Rihanna in the way of acting — she's a musician and a scandal-producing pop culture icon, and that's probably part of the reason that she hardly got a line of dialogue in This Is The End. But Ri Ri is one of the only female celebrities who openly smokes, so it seems pretty important that she at least makes a cameo.

Miley Cyrus

America's first stoner chick flick is literally the event that Miley Cyrus has been planning her career around. We'll at least give her a few lines of dialogue, just for all the effort she's put in to being Snoop Dogg's female counterpart.
