Katy Perry Serves Vocals In Her New Holiday Song

by Alex Kritselis

Last week, we learned that a new Katy Perry song called "Every Day Is a Holiday" premieres on Nov. 23 as a part of clothing retailer H&M's upcoming 2015 holiday campaign. A few snippets of the tune hit the Web on Monday (how? I'm not exactly sure... the Internet is a magical place!), and my-oh-my, it sounds anthemic and glorious and wonderful. I've said in the past that I literally give zero cares when pop stars release original holiday songs, because they never come close to touching the greatness of Mariah Carey's 1994 seminal classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You"... but "Every Day Is a Holiday" sounds like it could give the seasonal favorite a run for its money. Will Carey be forced to hand over her holiday crown this Thanksgiving? I think it's a possibility.

According to Glamour UK, Perry co-wrote "Every Day Is a Holiday" with up-and-coming British house DJ Duke Dumont — and the house influences are strong with this one. The track kind of sounds like Perry's "Walking on Air" from PRISM on steroids (you know there's a choir!). So, in other words, it sounds incredible. I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with the song when it drops in full. Check out a few clips of "Every Day Is a Holiday" below.

So, what do you think? Does "Every Day Is a Holiday" have what it takes to overthrow "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as the reigning holiday pop anthem? Perry hasn't released new music in over two years, so I suspect the Billboard charts will welcome her back with open arms. However, longevity is key. Whether the record will have the incredible staying power of Carey's classic remains to be seen. Nov. 23 can't get here soon enough.
