Megyn Kelly Comments On The GOP Debate

by April Siese

The fourth GOP debate marked major shifts for Republican candidates. Lindsey Graham and George Pataki failed to make it to the JV debate for the first time this election season, while Mike Huckabee and Chris Christie were relegated to the earlier debate based on dismal polling numbers. This left eight candidates onstage facing off at the Milwaukee Center. Additionally, Fox Business' requirements made it so that candidates had more time to not only lay out their thoughts on pressing issues but address their fellow presidential hopefuls. Needless to say, there was much to discuss on Tuesday night, especially from pundits and journalists. Megyn Kelly's comments on the fourth Republican debate have so far highlighted the many quotable moments from candidates.

Kelly had high hopes going into the fourth GOP debate. During an interview with Lou Dobbs following the JV debate and just before the main event, the Fox News journalist put her faith in moderators Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo to highlight pressing issues dealing with jobs and finances:

I'm hoping that we're gonna hear what we thought we were gonna hear at the last debate ... a robust substantive exchange about one of the most important topics to the voters, which is the economy ... [Last time] the war between moderators and candidates completely wiped out any substantial exchanged. People really do care so I have complete trust in Neil [Cavuto] and Maria [Bartiromo] to get to the bottom of that.

Needless to say, that is primarily what has been highlighted in Kelly's live tweets of the debate.

And if you want more Kelly, here's what to do:

Kelly's analysis of the debate during The Kelly File following the event was one of high praise for the moderators involved. She called the debate "issue-heavy" and seemed thoroughly impressed by candidate performance, namely Donald Trump's more subdued reactions to his fellow presidential hopefuls. The Fox News journalist's main criticism? What candidates had to say about issues abroad. "There isn't a projection of confidence for these candidates, at least when it comes to foreign policy," Kelly said.

Kelly didn't name a clear winner of the debate, though a New Hampshire control group led by Frank Luntz appeared to have chosen Rubio and Cruz as the strongest candidates. Expect even further debate analysis from Kelly in the next coming days and be on the lookout for her live tweets during the next GOP debate, to take place on Dec. 15.
