Are Trump And Putin Friends?

During Tuesday night's Republican debate, moderator Maria Bartiromo questioned Trump on his assertion that he and Russian leader Vladimir Putin would have a good relationship. Are Trump and Putin friends? Trump has made some comments that might lead you to believe so.

"You have said you will have a good relationship with Mr. Putin," Bartiromo said to Trump. "So what does President Trump do in response to Russia's aggression?"

Trumps initial response was classic redirection, talking about the fact that we should be focusing on threats from North Korea, Iran, and China before worrying about the land of Putin. But he then said that if Putin wants to enter Syria and "go and knock the hell out of ISIS, I'm all for it, 100 percent, and I can't understand how anyone could be against it."

So aside from supporting Putin in that potential pursuit, are the two buddies? For some reason, the idea of them palling around doesn't seem too far-fetched, right? Trump says that they were acquainted when they both appeared on the same TV program. "I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes. We were stablemates, and we did very well that night," he said, referring either to the program's high ratings or the pair's budding bromance.

Trump later went on Face the Nation, where host John Dickerson inquired about the relationship between the two men.

"I think that I would at the same time get along very well with him. He does not like Obama at all. He doesn't respect Obama at all. And I'm sure that Obama doesn't like him very much," Trump told Dickerson. "But I think that I would probably get along with him very well. And I don't think you'd be having the kind of problems that you're having right now."

So the enemy of my enemy is my friend, I guess? Let's keep in mind who the president of the United States of America's other enemies are before employing that logic, Mr. Trump. You might wind up in a bad crowd.
